Resuming Sojourner’s Journal

Morgan at NicopolisI’ve received many questions from readers asking why I’ve not posted to Sojourner’s Journal for the past few months. Also received some complaints, innuendos and even accusations that I’d been slacking off, and exhortations to get with it. Guilty as charged. I’ve been slacking off. Been busy. I wrote a book, traveled halfway around the world, got sick in Bangkok and well in Bulgaria, frozen in Bucharest and thawed in Turkey, met new friends, lost old ones, got caught up in love, anger, compassion and tears, had anniversaries and… you know, life. The whole catastrophe. But never mind. I’m back at the keyboard.
I’m taking an oblique turn with SJ because my head is bursting with stuff that needs to get out and I’m a little tired of the chronological narrative. Henceforth (good word henceforth, even if archaic) SJ will include short stories, some of which might cut to the bone – on this side of the mountain I don’t have enough time left to fool around – ravings, illuminations, reflections, memories, and travels.
We’ll be releasing a newsletter later this month, also named Sojourner’s Journal. Some of my scribble and ML’s photos will appear there first, along with excerpts from our books. The general tone will be similar to SJ on my website and will include some news, information and comment relating to the current consensual reality/hallucination.
ML took the photo at the top of the page at Nicopolis, an ancient Roman city now being excavated near where we lived in Bulgaria. As most of you know, I’m a pushover for archeological excavations. Show me a pile of old and broken stone and I’m yours.
I’ll continue my last post on Bulgaria and catch up where I left off. Terrible and wonderful things happened in Bulgaria: jackals howling at the moon, and us, intruders and thieves in the night, misunderstanding and recriminations, demons and angels. I’ll tell you all about it. Soon.
